This quote is saying that a promise should never be broken but it's true if you say you're going to do something you have to do it no matter what comes in the way of that, because if you don’t do it you will have set a bad reputation and you will become a liar and always be known for that wherever you go. Furthermore don’t make promises you can’t keep because you only have your word which is the only thing you have and they are trusting you to fulfil that word and if you don't they most likely will not trust you more the hardest thing to earn from somebody is there trust and loyalty because people nowadays are very deceitful because it's near the end of time and the wicked one is taking over.

What i think this quote is trying to say is that when you do good a lot it will never fail you you will always get something in return like a feeling that you’ve done something right. Henry David was an American author, poet, philosopher, abolitionist, naturalist, tax resister, development critic, surveyor and historian and i'm sure this man knows what is right this man fought for people right he took a stand. What this man is trying to say that if you do something good you will get something good in return and you will always feel good about it.

Furthermore don't take the easy way out do what is right don't cheat when you can play fair because it always comes back to you in the end. Choosing what is right is always the best thing to do even when it's the hardest thing to do you still have to do what is right

He’s also saying that focus on what is positive and avoid what is negative because people these days drink, smoke, do drugs, so what he trying to say is focus on what is good because wherever there is darkness there is always a light to go to theres always a chance to do something positive in your life help people give to the poor donate to charity stuff like this is very sound and good.
